T316 Stainless Steel Swage T-Toggle Turnbuckle acts as an adjustable tensioning anchor for modern cable railing systems.
Step-by-Step Installation Process:
Follow these steps to properly install and tension this hardware on your deck or staircase posts:
1.Mount the Toggle End to Your Post
Position your eye pads, lag eye screws, or mounting tabs directly onto your terminal end post.
Remove the cotter ring and slide out the clevis pin from the turnbuckle's toggle fork jaw.
Place the jaw around your post mounting anchor.
Slide the clevis pin back through the holes and lock it into place by reinserting the cotter ring.
2. Prep the Turnbuckle for Cable Insertion
Loosen both locking hex jam nuts away from the main closed pipe body.
Twist the main closed pipe body to unscrew the threaded ends outward.
Extend the threads to roughly 75% to 80% of their maximum open length.
Note: Leaving this extra thread exposed gives you maximum adjustment travel to tighten the cable later as it settles and stretches.

3. Cut and Insert the Cable
Measure your cable run from the opposite end post up to the entry point of this swage terminal.
Cleanly cut your 1/8" or 3/16" stainless steel wire rope using specialized cable cutters to prevent fraying.
Insert the raw end of the wire rope completely into the hollow swage stud cylinder until it hits the internal bottom stop.
4. Swage the Terminal Tube
Align a specialized hydraulic or manual swaging tool with the correct die size over the hollow tube.
Apply heavy pressure to crimp the steel tube directly onto the cable.
Make two to three separate compressions along the length of the swage sleeve, rotating the tool slightly between presses to ensure an even, high-strength cold-weld bond.
5. Tension the System
Hold the flat wrench pad on the swage stud stable using an open-ended wrench.
Insert a small screwdriver or hex key through the viewport hole in the center of the pipe body.
Spin the pipe body to draw the threads inward, pulling the cable taut until it satisfies the 4-inch spacing code (no deflection under pressure).
Spin the two hex jam nuts tightly against the pipe body to lock your tension settings permanently.
