This invisible cable railing kit can be used in wooden post and metal (Alu. Steel) post. Both the terminal and tensioner are hidden in the post,the heads ofthe 2 sides can be hidden completely if you prefer by drilling 5/8" holes or just leaving the heads outside the post, you can get a clean look appearance on your deck, it looks cool. With our allen wrench, you can easily install and detach. It works perfectly for both indoor and outdoor, both level and stair railings. Step-by-Step Installation Process
Installing this specific internal tensioner hardware requires precise drilling and depth control:
1. Drill the Stepped Pilot Holes
Drill a pilot hole straight through your end post using a standard drill bit sized to fit the narrow cable sleeve.
Switch to a larger counterbore drill bit. Drill into the backside of the post to create a wide recess pocket.
Note: Ensure this larger pocket is deep enough to accept the entire length of the cylindrical receiver sleeve shown in the diagram.
2. Cleanly Prepare and Cut the Cable
Measure your span between the inside faces of your two terminal end posts.
Subtract the required offset distance specified in your product manual to account for internal thread spacing.
Use specialized cable cutters to make clean, square cuts on your 1/8" stainless steel wire rope.
3. Crimp the Swage Stud
Push the raw end of your cable into the hollow tube of the long swage stud piece (the bottom-left piece with the open end).
Position a hydraulic swaging tool over the tube.
Compress the metal firmly onto the wire rope 2 to 3 times along the barrel to lock the connection.
4. Feed and Assemble the Post Hardware
Push the raw, uncrimped end of your cable completely through the narrow pilot hole from the front face of the post to the back.
From the back of the post, slide the long swage stud over the cable so it nests into the post.
Take the cylindrical receiver cap (the top-left piece featuring the internal hex socket head) and push it into your wide counterbored hole from the backside of the post.
5. Drive and Tension the Cable
Insert the provided Allen/hex wrench into the socket head of the receiver cap.
Rotate the wrench clockwise to catch the internal threads of the swage stud.
Continue tightening to pull the stud and cable deeper into the post, tensioning the line.
Repeat this uniform tightening sequence across all lines until your cables reach rigid structural tension with minimal deflection.
Critical Technical Considerations
Accurate Cable Lengths: Because this hardware is entirely self-contained inside the post, its internal adjustment travel is narrow (typically around 1 to 1.5 inches). Cutting your cables too long or too short will prevent proper tensioning.
Hex Socket Care: Ensure your Allen key is fully seated deep inside the receiver head before applying heavy torque. Stripping the internal socket head makes it nearly impossible to adjust or remove later.
Wood Post Protectors: If installing this hardware into softer wood posts (like cedar or pine), consider adding small stainless steel adhesive protector sleeves or washers to prevent the tensioned cable from sawing into the wood grain over time.
