A marine weldable round rail base (45°) is a heavy-duty, flush-mounting deck hardware fitting. Unlike standard mechanical bases that use grub screws, a weldable base features a low-profile socket socket pocket intended for a permanent, structural TIG weld directly to the marine tubing.
Key Technical Specs
Material: Standard models are investment cast from 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel to handle continuous salt water exposure without rusting.
Weld Design: The inner socket pocket is chamfered or tight-tolerance to allow a clean weld bead around the base perimeter without obstructing the deck screw paths.
Angle Profile: Holds handrails, bow pulpits, or specialized rod holders at a 45-degree angle relative to the flat hull or floor surface.
Mount Pattern: A 3-hole round flange design with countersunk fastener holes to keep screw heads completely flush with the metal face.
Installation Tips
1,Prep the Joint: Grind away any polish or contamination from the tip of the stainless tubing and inside the base pocket prior to welding to ensure structural fusion.
2,Backing plates: Because 45° angled rails create continuous leverage on the base, always install heavy stainless steel backing plates or large fender washers behind the fiberglass deck to avoid stress cracking.
