A 90° Marine Round Rail Base with a Short Body (also widely known as a Low-Profile or Short Neck round base) is designed to mount vertical stanchions, grab rails, or bimini frames while keeping the deck profile as sleek and compact as possible.
The shortened socket minimize the risk of stubbing toes or catching lines on deck, making them excellent for tight spaces, cabin interiors, and swim platforms.
Key Specifications & Features
Material: Precision-cast 316 Marine-Grade Stainless Steel (SUS316) for superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in saltwater environments.
Surface Finish: High-grade mirror polished finish that enhances corrosion protection and matches existing luxury boat hardware.
Securing Mechanism: Uses dual or single allen-head set screws (grub screws) on the short collar to lock the tubing, combined with three countersunk deck mounting holes.
Essential Installation Tips
1,Match the Outer Diameter (OD): Standard marine tubing sizes are strictly 7/8-inch (22mm), 1-inch (25mm), or 1-1/4 inch (32mm). Measure your pipe carefully before ordering.
2,Apply Marine Sealant: Because short body mounts exert high lateral leverage on a smaller surface area, ensure you apply a high-quality polyurethane sealant (like 3M 5200 or 4000UV) under the flange to lock out water.
3,Use Backing Plates: If mounting onto a fiberglass deck to support a vertical handrail, always use a backing plate underneath to prevent fiberglass stress cracks.
