US Type D Shackle (also known as a chain shackle or dee shackle) is a heavy-duty rigging connector characterized by its narrow, straight-sided "D" shaped body. This specific design is optimized for high-capacity, straight-line (in-line) tension. Unlike normal shackles, US Type D Shackles feature a significantly oversized pin. The pin diameter is typically one size larger than the shackle body itself (e.g., a 7/16" body pairs with a 1/2" pin), which prevents the pin from bending under extreme linear loads.
