External Eye End Cap (commonly called a bimini top eye end or tube cap). While it looks similar to a jaw slide, it is functionally the exact opposite: rather than clamping around the outside of a structural rail, this cap is designed to slip over the raw open end of a bimini frame tube. The protruding tab (or eye) with a pre-drilled hole is what inserts into a deck hinge or a jaw slide to create the pivoting joint for your canopy framework.
An investment-cast, mirror-polished component that wraps open tube ends, incorporating a single hex-drive set screw to secure the collar against the inner frame pole.
Anatomy & Performance Mechanics
Internal Single Set Screw: The small threaded port on the side wall houses a flat-head or hex socket set screw. When tightened, this pin presses tightly against the aluminum or stainless frame pole to prevent the cap from flying off.
Solid Eye Ring: The integrated ear acts as a heavy-duty single pivot connector point, ensuring smooth rotation whenever folding the canopy up or down.
Smooth Internal Bore: The inside of the collar is precision-machined so that it sits snugly on the framework, blocking moisture from seeping into the core of the hollow pipe.
Rigging Recommendation
Before replacing this component, make sure you measure the Outside Diameter (O.D.) of your bimini frame. The most common sizes are 7/8" (22mm) and 1" (25mm). If you put a 1" end cap on a 7/8" tube, the alignment will wobble and stress the connecting hardware.
