Unlike the jaw slides discussed previously that clamp directly onto moving frame rails, a deck hinge serves as the permanent anchor base. It is securely screwed down onto the flat fiberglass or wood surface of a boat's gunwale, deck, or windshield frame to create a pivot point for the main bimini canopy structure.

Installation Tips
1,Always Use Bedding Compound: Marine fiberglass configurations flex under wind shear. Be sure to apply marine sealant (such as 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 4200) under the base flange during installation to seal the mounting holes and protect against core wood rot or fiberglass cracking.
2,Backing Plates: If mounting into a thin fiberglass surface subject to heavy winds or fast cruising speeds, install a backup plate or wide washers underneath the deck surface to spread out the physical load.
