Fastener Selection: Always use 316 stainless steel countersunk screws (#10 size) to ensure the heads sit completely flat and flush within the pre-drilled holes, keeping the top surface safe to step on. Sealing the Core: If you are drilling new pilot holes into a fiberglass deck that has a balsa or foam core, always seal the raw interior edges with marine epoxy or marine sealant (like 3M 4200 or 5200) to keep water from rotting out your boat floor.
