An angled base deck hinge is a piece of specialized marine hardware. It is engineered to mount Bimini tops, dodgers, and canvas frame structures to sloped or tilted surfaces.
Standard flat hinges require a level surface or an additional plastic wedge. In contrast, an angled hinge compensates for the pitch of sloped gunwales, slanted decks, or contoured hulls. This design allows the vertical framework of the canopy to remain properly upright.
Hardware Specifications & Features
Material Composition: Cast from mirror-polished AISI 316 Stainless Steel. This grade provides maximum structural strength and corrosion resistance in marine environments.
Angle Configuration: The base is typically engineered with a permanent 80-degree or 10-degree offset. This slope ensures smooth alignment when fastening to angled deck walls.
Fastening Assembly: The base includes dual countersunk mounting holes. These are designed to sit flush with standard #10 flat head machine screws or self-tapping fasteners.
Pin Mechanism: The standard setup features a permanent threaded shoulder bolt/screw. This bolt pairs tightly with marine eye ends to secure the framework.
