Marine Grade Anchor Chain Lock

  • Marine Grade Anchor Chain Lock
product description

This item is a marine-grade anchor chain lock (also frequently called a chain claw, chain stopper, or snubber hook). It is typically cast from heavy-duty 316 stainless steel to withstand corrosive saltwater environments.

Primary Functions

Relieves Windlass Tension: It transfers the extreme strain of a deployed anchor away from the boat's mechanical anchor winch (windlass) and redirects it safely to a heavy deck cleat or mooring bridle.

Reduces Noise: Securing the chain with a snubber line eliminates the metallic grinding and clanking sounds of the anchor chain rubbing against the bow roller while the boat rides waves.

Acts as a Shock Absorber: When attached to a flexible nylon line (a snubber), it absorbs the sudden shocks from waves, preventing the anchor from being jerked loose from the seabed.

How It Works

1,The Slot: The narrow vertical channel in the center slides right over a vertical link of the anchor chain.

2,The Funnel/Flanges: The angled sides cradle the adjacent horizontal link of the chain, wedging it firmly in place without twisting or damaging the links.

3,The Top Loop: A dedicated nylon snubber line or shackle is tied through the large round top eyelet.
