Copper DIN 3093 Oval Ferrule (also commonly referred to as a swage sleeve, crimp, or casing). It is a critical component used in rigging and cable management to terminate wire ropes.

Primary Applications

Galvanic Corrosion Prevention: These copper ferrules are specifically used alongside stainless steel wire ropes. Standard aluminum ferrules will cause accelerated galvanic corrosion (electrolysis) when touching stainless steel, especially in harsh or saltwater marine environments. Copper prevents this reaction.

Loop and Eye Splices: They securely anchor the turnback of a wire rope loop (often wrapped around a protective thimble).

Industrial & Marine Use: Widely utilized in sailboat rigging, architectural cable railings, lashing, towing, and light overhead lifting applications.

Installation Method

To achieve a reliable loop termination, the ferrule must be compressed uniformly using a dedicated swaging tool or hydraulic press equipped with correct round dies. When properly swaged, the compression forms a cold pressure weld that allows the joint to safely hold roughly 90% of the wire rope's minimum breaking strength.
