This object is a heavy-duty metallic cam buckle, a quick-release mechanical fastener used primarily for securing tie-down straps, luggage, marine cargo, and vehicle roof racks.
Key Characteristics:
Function: A strap or webbing feeds through the bottom gap and loops under the spring-loaded, textured lever (the "cam flap"). The ridges/teeth on the lever grip the webbing firmly in one direction to prevent slipping, while pressing down on the flat top panel immediately releases the tension.
Material: It is commonly manufactured out of cast 304 or 316 stainless steel to prevent rust and corrosion, making it popular for marine, outdoor, and heavy-weather transit environments.
Common Applications: Used for tightening kayak straps, boat cover tie-downs, bimini frames, and utility cargo straps.

How to Use a Cam BuckleThread:
Press the thumb lever down to open the jaw and push the strap's loose end up through the bottom slot.
Pull: Pull the strap tight by hand until it fits snugly over your cargo. The teeth automatically bite into the fabric to prevent slipping.
Release: Press down on the thumb lever to lift the teeth and pull the strap back out to loosen.
