It is a premium tensioning fitting that removes the need for hydraulic crimping tools by using internal compression locking wedges to grab the cable. (also classified as a closed-body mechanical swage fork turnbuckle). Swageless fittings can be assembled quickly and easily by hand without special tools. These stainless steel jaw & swageless turnbuckle are designed to be installed on to wire rope or aircraftcable. Installation Step-by-Step Guide
Follow this sequence to ensure the internal locking cones sit properly on your wire rope:
1,Disassemble the Base: Unscrew the bottom compression nut completely from the turnbuckle stem to expose the internal cone (collet) and rings.
2,Prep the Cable: Cut your stainless steel cable perfectly square using dedicated wire rope cutters. Ensure there are no frayed or loose individual steel strands.
3,Sequence the Hardware: Slide the outer compression nut onto the cable first, followed by the internal washer/rings, and finally push the grooved collet wedge onto the very end of the cable.
4,Seat the Cable: Insert the cable tip and its surrounding wedge deeply into the inner pocket of the turnbuckle body receiver until it bottoms out completely.
5,Tighten and Torque: Thread the compression nut back onto the body by hand, then use two open-ended wrenches to crank it tight. This action permanently compresses the internal teeth onto the cable.
6,Adjust Final Tension: Insert a screwdriver or hex key through the center hole of the turnbuckle body and spin it to expand or contract the assembly until your cable run is perfectly taut. Lock the outer jam nuts against the body to secure the tension.
